What We Do
Project Venice works closely with Venice Family Clinic (VFC), a community health clinic that serves low-income patients throughout Los Angeles County. Along with quality primary healthcare, VFC offers various resources to the community such as low-cost dental care, English classes, and fitness classes. Our project supports the diverse needs of the clinic and connects passionate UCLA students with volunteer roles at the clinic.
Our Volunteer Roles
COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic
We assist with various clinical tasks which include patient screening, guiding patients to vaccination tents, and sanitizing equipment to help provide excellent patient care and maintain high levels of satisfaction.
Pre-Clinic Assistant
We work directly with nursing staff to greet and welcome every patient, take temperatures, administer COVID questionnaires, and educate about mask wearing and clinic flow.
Food Insecurity Program
We sort and package over 10,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables to provide a COVID-19-safe hand-off to patients and community members in need as well as to address social needs that impact health.

Design a children's book and host a reading circle to introduce pediatric literacy directly to children

Hello! My name is Sara and I am a third year MCDB major with minor in biomedical research. MESH has given me the opportunity to interact with people who value preventative healthcare as much as I do. Service has always been an integral part of my life and the values MESH holds resonate greatly with my own. MESH's dedication to serving low income communities is something which I intend to continue far into the future. In my free time, I like to hike, paint, read (particularly crime novels), cook, and eat (mostly Italian food).

Joining MESH has allowed me to become so much more educated on how to better support underserved communities, as well as what a career in medicine entails. I appreciate how MESH allows us to perform service in different healthcare settings, such as at the Venice Family Clinic, and being able to do so has definitely solidified my interest in pursuing a career in the medical field. I also value the wonderful friendships I've made with fellow MESH members. In my free time I enjoy hiking, reading, and exploring the city!
